Vytae

Made in Malaysia, for Malaysia

A reading on its own tells you nothing.

Vytae reads your glucose meter, your blood pressure meter and your cholesterol analyser, keeps the readings on your phone, and explains every one against the Malaysian guideline it comes from — named, dated, and there for you to read.

Blood pressure

live from the meter
138/86mmHg

At risk

Not hypertension, but above optimal. Diet, activity and salt matter here.

Clinical Practice Guidelines: Management of Hypertension, 5th edition — Ministry of Health Malaysia, 2018.

What it reads

Three devices. Nothing to type.

Vytae talks to the meters people in Malaysia can actually buy. You can also type a reading in by hand — from any meter, or from a clinic’s printout.

Blood pressure

INNOMED M7, over Bluetooth

Measure as you normally would. The reading arrives in the app with the movement the meter detected during the test, so you know whether to trust it. Start a single or a triple test from the phone.

90200

Below 90/60 is flagged separately as low. The app also runs the standing test for a drop on getting up: rest 5 minutes, then stand, with readings at 1 and 3 minutes.

Blood glucose

GlucoNavii NFC, by tapping the phone to it

Hold the phone against the meter and its stored readings come across — no cable, no account with the meter’s maker, nothing typed twice.

310

Fasting bands. Above 5.6 mmol/L fasting, Malaysian guidance asks for a laboratory test; 7.0 is the level at which diabetes is diagnosed — in the lab, not at a counter.

Cholesterol

SD LipidoCare, over Bluetooth

A finger-prick profile — total cholesterol, triglycerides and HDL — lands in the app the moment the analyser finishes, with LDL, non-HDL and the ratios worked out for you.

39

Total cholesterol above 5.2 mmol/L is raised. The app also takes a ten-year heart risk from the full profile, using the score the Malaysian lipid guideline uses.

And the things around the readings

Medication reminders from the schedule your clinic sends you or shows you as a QR code. Screening reminders that follow the Malaysian schedule. A ten-year cardiovascular risk estimate from the Framingham equation — a population estimate applied to one person, derived in an American cohort, which the app says plainly rather than hiding. Results from a pharmacy check — cholesterol, glucose, HbA1c and uric acid — sent to you and kept only if you say so. And everything exportable, because your readings are yours.

  • HbA1c 5.7–6.3% is the prediabetes band Malaysia uses; the diabetes line is 6.3%, not the American 6.5%, because at the higher figure too many Malaysian cases were missed.
  • Uric acid above 408 µmol/L is high — with the plain reminder that a high level alone is not gout.

Where the numbers come from

Every threshold has a paper behind it.

The app carries its own reference list, and Settings → Sources and reasoning shows the lot, with what each one is used for.

Where we are the source, we say so

Some things in the app rest on our own work rather than on published papers: how Vytae reads the GlucoNavii NFC over NFC, which we worked out ourselves and which the meter’s maker has not published, and how it checks the pressure recordings the INNOMED M7 streams. Your meter’s own screen is always the final word.

Pressure recordings from the INNOMED M7 blood pressure meter — The movement check, which the meter does not send over Bluetooth.

GlucoNavii display comparisons — Showing mmol/L exactly as the meter does, so the two never disagree.

What we do with your readings

They stay on your phone unless you ask otherwise.

On the phone by default

Readings are stored on your device. Copying them to our server is a separate switch, off until you turn it on — so a new phone does not have to mean starting again.

No analytics, no tracking

We do not measure how you use the app, and no third party receives your health data. The server runs in Singapore, and the privacy notice says so because it has to be true.

Offers are not chosen by your health

The home screen carries offers. Everyone sees the same ones: nothing you measure, and nothing about your health, is used to pick them.

Leaving is one screen

Delete your account in the app, or from this website, and the readings we hold go with it.

The full notice, in English and Bahasa Malaysia, is at /privacy. Deleting your account: /delete-account.

Getting the app

Vytae is in closed testing on Google Play.

Invited testers install it from Play today. Open testing follows once the first pharmacies are running checks at their counters — we would rather fix things with twenty people watching than two thousand.

You will need an Android phone with NFC for the GlucoNavii NFC glucose meter, or Bluetooth for the INNOMED M7 blood pressure meter and the SD LipidoCare analyser. Readings from any other meter can be typed in. An iPhone version is not out yet.
